I created Feed Your Dream to help spread health, hope, and happiness in the world by helping women create and live their best lives.
I am passionate about this because I’ve been at rock bottom (a few times) and was able to overcome my obstacles to create an abundant life filled with love, health, and happiness.
I think it’s important to share some of things I’ve been through because these experiences and challenges have shaped who I am and how I can help you overcome your challenges.
When I was six years old, I lost my mother to a sudden illness. It was like one day she was here, and one day she was gone. Her death devastated me and my family. I buried my grief deep down and took comfort in food. By the time I was 12 years old, I weighed just shy of 200 pounds.
At 12 years old, I decided I was tired of being ridiculed, feeling unhealthy, and being ashamed of my body. I found some old diet books from the late 70’s and Jane Fonda VHS tapes that were my mother’s and I was off to the races.
In about eight months, I lost about 70 pounds through severe calorie restriction and massive amounts of exercise. While I was now “skinny”, I was so far from healthy.
I continued my struggle with diet and exercise for the next ten years until enough was enough. I felt horrible and knew I was on a bad road. I decided to focus on learning about proper nutrition, healthy physical activity, and how to honor my body.
Along the way, I was a teenage alcoholic, high school dropout, struggling with repressed grief, and found myself engaging in severely toxic and abusive relationships.
My downward spiral culminated in a broken marriage and painful divorce. At 26 years old, I was utterly alone and broken.
The crazy thing is, unless you were in my inner circle, you would never have known I was going through all of this. I had perfected the illusion of being a high functioning mess.
Along the way, I went back to school and earned my Bachelors degree in International Business. I’m the first person in my immediate family to have earned my college degree! I also traveled the globe and built a lucrative career in management consulting and technology.
My 26th year was pivotal for me. Something in me woke up! I had enough of the crazy and self-destructive life I was living. I was in a toxic marriage, struggling with debt from using my credit cards to pay for my college education, drinking to escape, and just generally unwell.
I made the decision to end my first marriage and spent the next 15 years focusing on developing healthy relationships, healthy habits, learning to love myself, and how to create lasting positive change.
Fast forward to today and my life is completely different in the very best ways! I’m married to a wonderful man who is my best friend and soul mate. We have an amazing son that I learn so much from. I’ve managed to keep the weight off and am in the best physical shape of my life. I continue to learn and grow both personally and professionally. And, I made my childhood dream of having a horse come true!
I’ve been very fortunate to share my life with so many amazing animals, including dogs, cats, and horses. Their stories, lessons, and wisdom show up in my writing and self-reflections quite often. I am eternally grateful to them for sharing their gifts with me and I love to incorporate them in my coaching practice.
While many of my life experiences were painful, I am grateful for them because they have made me who I am today. A strong, resilient, and confident women who is committed to helping others create their best life.
My passion and mission is to help women transform themselves, their lives, their relationships, and their careers through a holistic approach to self-discovery and self-care.
If I can do it, you can do it too!
With much love,
Kristie
